My Professional Journey

Where do we start now....

Once upon a time..........

There was guy [me :P] born in a small town in Bihar...

Wait, went too far back in time :D
Okay, let's pickup from high-school.

High-Schoolers are pretty much confused, self obsessed, bunch of naive fellows mostly; not knowing what to do with life.
It goes without saying that it's not their fault actually. Schools pretty much feed in your brain to only score marks somehow. They don't care about teaching how to make money or how do you build assets or anything that might help you in your life.

I was among the kids who had no idea what life is.

All I ever knew was to go to school, play harmonium in assembly, seek out games periods, sometimes solve complicated mathematical or computer programming questions. Voila!!

In our school, we had two branches Science & Commerce. Needless to say, convention was, high graders were allotted Science; Commerce otherwise.
In Science we had another set of creamy people who were good with analytical skills and they were given wonderful opportunity of coding.

I on the other hand wasn't creamy at all, pretty much average having my hands on almost everything; music, sports, sketching, singing, academics, writing blah blah blah.

I was true epitome of Jack of All.

I landed in Science because I had scored decently enough [~83%] and was studying computer coding because I fancied it.

Fancy is a pretty word I'd say, it just doesn't stike anyone for nothing. I started fancying coding because our teacher was really beautiful, and I wanted to be in her good books. So when the time came, I never applied for coding, she handpicked me to be in Computer Science.

Man...., I couldn't be more proud that day

Since childhood I also had a craze towards uniform, precisely being Fighter Pilot in IAF, which led me to my SSBs, I was screened out in my first attempt, had no idea what SSB was and went there unprepared. Totally deserved it. Next time was when I were to take admission in college. I didn't clear my JEE Advanced and didn't scored enough in JEE Mains, but was completely convinced that I'm going to academy and never bothered to take admissions in any college till as late as September.

My father suggested, it's okay to have plan-B. So we asked a lot of people and a university name popped up and I took admission only to spend a month awaiting my SSB. I wasn't recommended and plan-B actually helped out or I'd have to drop a year [which in my opinion is terrible idea for anyone].

Trust me on this, keep your options wide open. DO NOT restrict yourself to anything.
University was Tier-4 or below in everything but academics. I took the best of it to learn as much as I could. Fortunately, they helped me bag an internship in Hyderabad which helped me getting my first job [off campus, with a 15 day jobless period after college ended] at a petty salary in a metro city.

At that time, my thought was to grab whatever is in front of me because I found it hard to swallow food being out of college and jobless. I believed that I could grow vigorously if I picked up anything. All I needed was to pickup something.

हर स्वाभिमानी मेरी इस विडम्बना को समझ सकेगा।
Life happened and I worked my arse off, not to get money but recognition and knowledge. Right from the start my target was to learn as much as I could; be it technology, human behavior, client handling or anything for that matter which corporate had to offer me.

Got my confirmation after 6 months probation, kept working my arse off, got my first increment after 1.5 years, got my second increment in 2 years [a testament to my endeavors, no one gets 2 handsome increments in one FY I got successive 30% and 60% hike].

Funny thing is, I thought back then what good is a 100% hike if your income is ₹1.

Then my third increment in 3.5 years [yeah I got hike in 2020 :P but without arrears, but at this point money didn't mattered that big to me because I got a seat at center table].

I had to be patient unlike my other colleagues to see the results of my blood & sweat investment.

It paid off.......

As of today, I'm enjoying the feel of sitting at center table and trying to soak in a lot of experience dealing with people. It won't be long before I make a big leap. I have my eyes widely opened for any opportunity flashes.

PS: I'm still in my first company, they treat me well, share authority and I love the freedom that comes with my work

So, after all this, I believed it was truly needed to change the blog title, after all, the little naive baby grew up, maybe not so much financially, but I grew up.

There's no way I'm settling at any point of time in my life....

All I'd say, do what you love and good things follow.
Also, do read this one if you want to pickup a thing or two....

Oh! by the way, I'm yet to make a strategic alliance with my lady partner in crime.

You're most welcome if you'd like to give us a shot :P

Bye tata,
Jai Shree Ram
